Varsity splits pair with O.L.M.

Posted Saturday, April 28, 2007 by Daniel Crane

Spellman varsity goes one up and one down in a Saturday double header out on Long Island.
In the first game, after the long bus ride, the girls timing was a little off and the bats just could not get going in time. Spellman collected only 4 hits with no walks and the only run scored was Victoria Galasso stealing home on a passed ball. On the defensive side, with one really bad inning there where 3 errors letting in 4 runs in the 5th and it was over!
In the second game, it was a different story. Spellman got off to a 3 run lead in the 1st inning. Galasso got a single and then stole second. Kostelas then got a big double which scored Vicky. Ponce then walked and 2 batters later Nicole Biolsi had her only hit of the day driving in two runs. O.L.M. battled back to tie it and the game went to a intenational tie break. With Trosa on second, Galasso struckout and reached first on a passed ball, Kostelas then came to bat and slammed one up the middle off the pitcher's leg scoring two runs. Spellman then went into the bottom of the 8th and held O.L.M. to one, with Galasso and Varela making put outs and Varela stiking out the last batter for the win.
GREAT JOB BY ALL THE GIRLS. Thanks, Coach Crane.
